Tips and Tricks

I wish I would have known that...

So many times when I am talking to people about their upcoming trips I find so many things that they don't know. Or even worse they go to Disney without doing their homework and have to learn the hard way. Here is my list of top things you must know before you go..

There's an app for that...

And Disney is no exception. Anymore I couldn't image taking a trip to Disney World without using the app. The app allows you to check wait times, make dinning reservations, and schedule FastPasses. This is just the beggining of what you can do with the app. I will mention that the desktop version of the site does offer a few more options.

Magic Bands...

Honestly, this is probably the best kept secret in Disney... You don't have to stay in a Disney Resort to use a magic band! I made quite a few trips to the parks before I realized this. Now, IF you do stay on property, Disney will provide you and your family members with a magic band. If NOT, you can purchase a magic band in any of the Disney stores or online. Here's another tip. Check EBay. In most cases you will find great deals on them there. But stick to new ones.. I wouldn't want to wear someone else's sweaty magic band. Either way the Magic Band contains your park tickets and is tied back to your Disney Account. You'll scan it to use Fast Pass, and at any photo location. And if you are staying on property it will also be your room key and a form of payment if you associate your credit card to the account. If you do purchase your own magic band or upgrade to a custom band you will have have to link it to your account on Disney's website.

FastPass+

Hate to wait in lines, I do. Disney's FastPass+ elimates the crazy long lines and essentially lets you skip them.  It’s a miraculous invention that has made navigating Walt Disney World a lot easier, if you know how to correctly use it. Everyone gets three for the day. You can book your fastpasses 60 days in advance if you are staying on property or 30 days if not. You don't have to use the app to book your fastpast, kiosks are located in the parks, but the app is the easiest method.   After each park guests uses their allotted three FastPasses, they can grab one at a time for any Walt Disney World park until closing or all passes have been reserved, whichever comes first.  Don't forget you can always change your FastPass+ reservations on the fly from the app, so if you see the wait time for the attraction you’re about to board is less than 15 minutes, consider rebooking for a different ride with a longer line.
